Please choose one option in Academic Breakout I, Academic Breakout II and in Academic Breakout III that you'd like to participate in so we can plan accordingly!
Experience the Arts Day attendees have exclusive access to auditions and portfolio reviews that count towards your admission application for students interested in applying to the School of Theater and the School of Dance, if you feel that you're ready to audition or have your portfolio reviewed. These sessions can also serve as practice sessions, if you prefer – just let the faculty know when you arrive that you would like the session to be a practice session.
Faculty-led lessons will be offered for the School of Music, and portfolio feedback sessions will be offered for the School of Art + Design and the School of Film. At these lessons or feedback sessions, you will receive individualized feedback on your work, get tips on submitting your portfolio/preparing for your audition, and learn about your next steps at OHIO.
If you are interested in signing up for one of these additional options at Experience the Arts Day, please select your preferred option:
High school seniors seeking portfolio guidance are encouraged to schedule a personalized session with faculty from the School of Art + Design. These one-on-one meetings offer a valuable opportunity to receive tailored feedback and expert insight into preparing a strong portfolio for your Ohio University application. Please note that formal portfolio reviews are required for students pursuing Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees in the following: Studio Art, Graphic Design, or Interior Architecture.
If you are ready to audition for the School of Dance, this optional opportunity allows you to fulfill all admissions requirements for your selective program ahead of OHIO’s Early Action deadline (Nov. 15). Participants will take part in a Modern Technique class alongside current dance majors, offering a firsthand experience of our program’s training environment. For high school seniors, this class serves as the formal audition for admission to the School of Dance.
Students who do not wish this session to count as a formal audition are encouraged to attend as a practice session. This provides a valuable opportunity to explore the program, engage with faculty and students, and gain insight into the audition process in preparation for future application cycles.
High school seniors seeking portfolio guidance are encouraged to schedule a personalized session with faculty from the School of Film. These one-on-one meetings offer a valuable opportunity to receive tailored feedback and expert insight into preparing a strong portfolio for your Ohio University application. Please note that formal portfolio reviews are required for students pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in the School of Film.
Students are invited to sign up for an individual music lesson during Experience the Arts Day. This engaging and low-pressure opportunity allows participants to connect directly with faculty from the Ohio University School of Music in their area of interest. Students will receive personalized feedback and gain valuable insight into the music experience at OHIO. Please note that music auditions are required for all students pursuing Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees in the School of Music.
If you are ready to audition for the School of Theater, this optional opportunity allows you to fulfill all admissions requirements for your selective program ahead of OHIO’s Early Action deadline (Nov. 15). This audition will count towards your application for admission to the School of Theater.
If you prefer additional time to prepare your audition materials, you are welcome to attend and enjoy the day without auditioning, or request that this serve as a practice audition when you arrive. There will be ample opportunities to complete this required step later in the audition season, both on campus and at designated off-campus locations. If you are no longer interested in auditioning at this event, un-select the option for an audition in the previous question and finish submitting your Experience the Arts Day registration.
If you are ready to audition for the School of Theater’s musical theater program, this optional opportunity allows you to fulfill all admissions requirements for your selective program ahead of OHIO’s Early Action deadline (Nov. 15). The group Dance Call will be required for all students participating in an audition, from 2:45-3:45 p.m.

If you are no longer interested in completing a portfolio review at this event, un-select the option for a portfolio review in the previous question and finish submitting your Experience the Arts Day registration.
